Dear Friend and Fellow Member,
We do hope all is well with you and yours.
It’s a great feeling to see the days getting longer and spring is round the corner. Just think, they told us a few months ago that we were going to have the mother of all winters, but wrong again.
Out in the wide world, we’ve had an MP acting as a cat on Big Brother, I wonder if he is Valerie’s MP, as she is into cats in a big way. We had Labour loosing a vote in the Commons because Tony went to the loo, ( while another was playing the cat). Thankfully the Liberal saga has died down so there is no more scandal on that side.
We recently saw the end of the good old Routemaster bus which was very sad. It had meant so much to all of us down the years.
Then there is the fuss about the cartoons. I was in fact going to include my very own set of cartoons to get us national attention, but while, as you all know, I am excellent at spelling, I am afraid the same cannot be said of my artistic talents, so I had to give that idea a miss.
We had a whale up the Thames who got his sonar all in a twist, he should have stuck to his tom tom.
We have just seen the ban on smoking being agreed, to come in next year. Most of our lot do not smoke, so it will be seen as good news overall. We will now be able to have ‘Sunday Lunch’ every day of the week, so the social program will be 5 pages long. The smokers in the country must be thinking ‘if only those stupid Irish lot had’nt gone rushing in a few years ago, this would never have happened’.
